From March 5 to 9, 2012, the Dandong tourism department organized spring tourism and publicity activities in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province to publicize Dandong's tourist attractions.

During the 12th Five-Year plan (2010-2015) period, Dandong aims to focus on attracting travelers mainly from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province. With a good reputation, the Yalu River border tour has become more attractive and has seen a large growth in tourist number.

Publicity efforts have been made in Beijing, Tianjin, Tangshan and Qinhuangdao of Hebei province from the Dandong municipal tourism bureau, county tourism bureaus and the city's key tourist enterprises. The publicity and promotion activities included tourist attraction introductions, discussions and listening to various opinions and suggestions.

Nearly two hundred travel agencies attended promotion seminars. They introduced tourism products in Dandong including the Yalu River border tour, mountain sceneries, red culture tourism, hot springs, beach resorts and countryside vacation.

Dandong tourism departments have designed many new tour routes to attract visitors in 2012. Representatives from scenic spots, hotels and travel agencies also exchanged experiences and shared ideas with their fellow colleagues in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province. They followed up intentions for cooperation with tourism special trains, co-promotion of tour routes, client's exchanges and tourism publicity.
