After investigating Dandong's county-level cities, Donggang and Fengcheng in the Liaoning province, the city's acting mayor Shi Guang went to his next stop: Kuandian Manchu. He traveled to the autonomous county on Dec 13 to complete research on its next year's economic and industrial development.

Tourism and agriculture are two leading industries of Kuandian. In 2011, Kuandian helped promote the industrialization of agriculture. The construction of the agricultural zone along the river and state road 201 ran smoothly. Kuandian's leading industries include materials for traditional Chinese medicine such as dried and fresh fruits, freshwater fish, rana and animal husbandry.

Kuandian's Tianqiaogou tourism and development project has an investment of 1.8 billion yuan and has begun its trial operation. Eco, rural and tourism with ethnic characteristics are developing rapidly, and in one year, Kuandian received more than five million Chinese and foreign tourists, accumulating to an income of five billion yuan.

Among Kuandian's projects that started construction this year, there are seven with an investment of more than one billion yuan ($285.1 million). One example is the Pushi River pumped storage power station project. Another 28 projects with a total investment of 15.4 billion yuan are in negotiation, which include the 3 billion-yuan Tianhua Mountain tourism resort project of Haichang Group. An additional project with an investment of two billion yuan is the construction of water sources integrated into the development of the Huangyi Mountain by the Beijing Enterprises Group.
