The country's prosecutors have concluded 1,855 criminal cases of power abuse committed by officials in land and resources departments from January 2009 to July of this year.
The Supreme People's Procuratorate announced the figures in a televised conference held on Thursday. Of all the cases, 1,609 are related to crimes of graft and bribery and 246 are about malfeasances.
China's land and resources departments have been haunted by corruption in recent years. In a recent record-making case, Luo Yaping, head of the Shuncheng district land and resources bureau in Fushun, Liaoning province, was found to have taken 60 million yuan ($8.83 million) in bribes.
