Zhao Zhiwu, a member of the Jilin provincial People’s Congress, has said that ecological protection can go along with industrial development in the western part of the province.

Zhao, who is also the manager of a meat products company, commented in an interview, "The logic is simple, if we became rich, we can spend more on environmental protection."

He went on to explain that animal husbandry benefits the local economy and western Jilin has a vast amount of grassland.Zhao?used his two meat processing factories that he opened five years ago, and added, “We’re confident of protecting the ecology and environment by building a better animal husbandry and meat processing chain.”
