Wuxi Opera

As a form of opera south of the Yangtze River, Wuxi opera is favored by locals. In Huazhuang, it has become an important part of local leisure and cultural life. With government support, several folk art troupes of Wuxi opera have been set up here. In order to satisfy residents’ appetite for hometown culture, “Red Sunset”, an elderly art troupe of the Huazhuang sub-district cultural station, will organize opera performances on arrival of the New Year. Classical performances like Pearl Tower, Delicate Women and Shajiabang are beloved by local residents. Through the performances, Wuxi opera, a unique art south of the Yangtze River, will become even more colorful.
