Baotou Aluminum (Group) Co., Ltd was established in 1958 and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in May 2005. Then it finished stock exchanges and absorption and delisted in December 2007.

Baotou Aluminum is a subsidiary of Aluminum Corporation of China (Chinalco) and its shares were held by Chinalco and the Baotou government (Chinalco holds 80% of the shares，the government holds 20%). The group has nine subsidiary companies, three branches, three branch plants and 12 functional offices.

Baotou Aluminum Group is the only company in China that produces high purity aluminum through world leading segregation technology, and is also the world’s largest monomer high purity aluminum production base.

At present, the company has total assets of 3.083 billion yuan ($496.7 million), and produces high purity aluminum with the purity above 99.99 percent, aluminum alloys, environmentally-friendly refining agents, industrial silicon, and ceramic refractory materials.

It had produced 20,000 tons of high purity aluminum, 20,000 tons of alloys, 45,000 tons of carbon products, and 12,000 tons of industrial silicon now, reaching an annual output value of one billion yuan.

Baotou Aluminum Group has been approved by the ISO9000-1 Quality System and Professional Health and Safety Management System GB/T28001-2001. It was also awarded the "National Advanced Team" and "National Advanced Enterprise of Top Quality and Efficiency".
