CEEC-undertaken Xiluodu DC Transmission Project begins delivering electric power to Guangdong

On Oct 12, the 500 kilovolts shared-tower double-circuit DC power transmission project of Xiluodu Right-bank Power Station undertaken by CEEC began delivering electric power to Guangdong province. It is another "electric power highway" of the "Power Transmission from Yunnan to Guangdong" project after the 800 kilovolts Yunnan-Guangdong EHV project and the 800 kilovolts Nuozhadu DC power transmission project.

With a total length of DC transmission line of 2*1251 kilometers, the project starts from Niuzhai Convertor Station of Yanjin county, Zhaotong city, Yunnan province and ends in Congxi Convertor Station, Conghua city, Guangdong province. It has a single-circuit DC transmission capacity of 3.2 million kilowatts and a total double-circuit DC transmission capacity of 6.4 million kilowatts, equivalent to half of the electrical load of Guangzhou.

As a major energy construction project of the national strategy of "west-east electricity transmission" during the 12th "Five-year Plan" period of China, Xiluodu Power Station DC transmission project is of great importance in speeding up hydroelectric development of Jinsha River and Lancang River, promoting further development of the "West-east Electricity Transmission" strategy and ensuring power supply in East China.
