The first China made 700 MW Turbo-generator rotor successfully erected

On April 3, 4:00 pm, 2007, the first China made 700 MW 26# turbo-generator rotor in the right bank power station of Three Gorges Project (TGP) was erected into the stator pit successfully by bridge crane, marking the world-class turbo-generator developed, manufactured and installed independently by China.

The leaders of China Gezhouba (Group) Corporation (CGGC), Xiang Yongzhong, Liu Yanhua, Jiang Xiaobing, watched the erecting on site.

The 26# unit in right bank power station of TGP is the first 700 MW turbo-generator set developed and installed successfully in China, on the basis of introduction and digestion of foreign techniques, also one of the biggest rotors in the world.

It is reported that 12 turbo-generators with 700 MW will be installed in the right bank power station of the TGP, CGGC has been contracted to install 8 sets. The China Gezhouba Electro-mechanical Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. has created a new record to install 4 of 700 MW turbo- generator sets in the left bank power station of TGP and 528 days ahead of the schedule accumulatively, and broke two world records of one constructor in the same hydropower station to install a total capacity of 2100 MW and each unit within 290 days duration.

26# set rotor was assembled at site on July.14, 2006, through assembling and welding of rotor hub and bracket, stacking of yoke lamination, installation of magnetic poles and a series of tests, was then erected into the pit and installed successfully on Apr. 3, 2007. During the installation, 8 welders finished the rotor welding within 43 days, breaking the Company’s record of similar rotors welding in the left bank power station. In addition, all technical indicatrix met the superior standard. It is reported that 26# turbo-generator set has been in the key stage of general assembly now and is expected to be put into operation this August.
