Huaqiao International Service Business Park, a pioneer in Kunshan's industrial transformation, has maintained strong momentum in growing its modern service sector.

But Huaqiao has increased its efforts to integrate emerging industries, as the development of strategic emerging industries has become a key element in promoting economic transformation and completing the modern service industry system.

To date, seven industrial enterprises have been integrated into the category of new emerging industry, including three high-end equipment manufacturers, two smart grid and IT companies, one new materials enterprise and one new flat-panel display manufacturer.

By the first quarter of this year, the total output of the new emerging industries in the area increased to 439 million yuan ($71 million), up 11.6 percent year-on-year. The industrial output in the smart grid and IT sector hit 249 million yuan, accounting for more than half of the total output value.

To further enhance the quality and quantity of new emerging industrial enterprises, the Huaqiao service business park plans to strengthen tracking services for existing emerging industrial enterprises, helping solve problems during production and operation. At the same time, the park encourages enterprises to increase investment in technical reform and upgrades.

The business park will guide enterprises in shifting from technological innovation investment to scientific and technological achievements and help them achieve breakthroughs.

To speed up the pace of development, authorities of the park will continue to carry out favorable policies in various aspects and give technical support to local companies to enhance their capability for independent innovation, transformation and product upgrades.
