The public were treated to free film screenings in the Video Center of Kunshan’s Huaqiao Greenland Community over the eight-day National Day holidays after one-month-long trial-broadcasting which began in September 4.

Located within the busiest living community, the video center, with an E-Mart supermarket to its west and a McDonald’s to its front, covers over 300 square meters and can hold about 130 audiences at the same time.

Entertaining over 320 people during the holidays, the center has provided “a better option for citizens to relax and enjoy themselves”, said Tang Naixin, Vice Director of the managing committee of Huaqiao economic development zone. He added that the Video Center of Huaqiao Greenland Community was established to enrich local citizens’ cultural life and enhance their life quality.

He also urged the center to improve the motion picture equipment and stereo equipment and called on the center to try digital screenings.

The Video Center of Huaqiao Greenland Community, the first center of its kind in the region, plans to continue broadcasting free classic movies for local citizens.

Huaqiao Greenland Community is a major development within Kunshan’s Huaqiao, in the east end of Jiangsu province and the northwest of Shanghai municipality.
