Nanyang clay sculpture works win gold medals at the Sixth Central Plains (Hebi) Cultural Industries Fair

The Sixth Central Plains Cultural Industries Fair opened in Hebi, Henan province on Oct 18 and ran until Oct 21.

It highlighted the concept of original culture, art, and creative industry. Themed on culture and creativity, it featured craftsmanship, cultural creation and market promotion.

Li Xianli, an inheritor of intangible cultural heritage of Nanyang clay sculpture, won gold medals at the Sixth Central Plains Cultural Industries Fair.

Li recreated the life event with mud. His creative thoughts, expression and craftsmanship make mud become lifelike .

Li's works are full of Nanyang local characteristics. They display real life events of local people - those who write couplets for the villagers, the rural children who paste couplets, the grandfather telling stories to a group of children, the villagers getting together to play the flute and sing Henan opera.

Li's clay sculptures works named "Paste Couplets", "Shoot Lies" and "Afternoon" won the gold medals of the fair.

At this fair, a total of 11 works from Nanyang won gold medals and Li’s works alone accounted for three of them.
