Baiyangdian Lotus Flower Cultural Festival (June-September)

Baiyangdian Lotus Cultural Festival has three themes. The theme for July is “Lotus Flower Breaks the Water.” In July, the lotus lakes are extremely beautiful, with beauty clogging your eyes everywhere. Range upon range of lotus flowers extend beyond the horizon. The lotus flowers that have just risen above the surface of the water are exposed or hidden among the overlapping lotus leaves. Some are in blossom, and some are still in bud. The beautiful scenery is natural and full of wild interests. The theme for August is “Hundred Mile Lotus Flower Fragrance.” In August, the lotus flowers are in full blossom. The red and white lotus flowers are spread on the lotus lakes, slim and graceful. In such poetic and picturesque environment, we organize the tourists to have fishing contest at Baiyangdian Fishing Park, organize Hundred Mile Lotus Flower Fragrance pen meeting and lotus flower painting and calligraphy works exhibition, and launch 18-curved water route ecotourism. The theme for September is “Lotus Pond in Moonlight.” On the nights of September, a gentle breeze is blowing, and the frogs are singling intermittently. The hundred-acre lotus lakes are covered with verdant lotus leaves, and shadow of the lotus flowers can be seen vaguely. On such nights, we organize moon appreciation activity at Baiyangdian tourist pier, and lotus flower appreciation activity at all the scenic spots. We also hold Baiyangdian autumn performances, watertown ethnic customs and folklore story-telling session, and Baiyangdian Lotus Flower Festival essay contest.

Zhangjiakou Bashang Grassland Cultural Month (July-August)

The Zhangjiakou Bashang Grassland Tourist Month, with its theme of “Walking into Verdure, and Meeting on the Grassland” is held annually in July and August at Bashang, Zhangjiakou, Hebei province.

The Bashang Grassland lies to the northwest of Hebei province and the southern edge of the Inner Mogolian Plateau (nicknamed Bashang). The average elevation of the grassland is between 1400 and 1600 meters. It is generally cool in the summer. The Zhongdu Grassland within the area is an integral and quintessential part of Xilingol Prairie, which constitutes an ideal and natural place for summer resort and sightseeing supported by its natural scenery such as blue sky, white clouds, green grass and forests.

To intensively display the unique appeal of Bashng Grassland tourism and build a tourist cultural brand with regional characteristics and modern ideas, the relevant departments of Hebei province, Zhangjiakou and Zhangbei county have jointly launched Bashang Grassland tourist month. During the busiest month for tourism, the organizers will hold large-scale campfire party, fireworks party, and performances of Mongolian songs and dances, local drama, horsemanship, and wrestling, etc., and activities like tourist goods exhibition and tourist programs negotiations to promote the economic development of Bashang.

China Great Wall Cultural Tourist Festival (September. 6-16)

As a symbol of the Chinese populace, the Great Wall has been entered in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. The Great Wall in Hebei province is the longest, most well-preserved, and most representative in architectural style. The Great Wall in Hebei province gathers all quintessence. When the tourists have climbed on it, they can appreciate the length, beauty l, and the profoundness of the culture of the Great Wall.

The China Great Wall Cultural Tourist Festival held annually during September 6-16 enables the tourists to have a further taste of the culture of the Great Wall, experience the rich ethnic customs along the Great Wall, and participate in the diversified sports and tourist activities of the quintessential section. The main activities include: trekking and cycling contests in eight sections of the Great Wall through Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, with a distance of 1500 kilometers, passing famous scenic spots of the Grate Wall such as Badaling, Mutianyu, Jinshanling, Huangyaguang, Panjiakou, Shanhaiguan, Jiaoshan, Jiumenkou, and Laolongtou, visiting other well-known scenic spots along the Great Wall and enjoy the local ethnic customs, watching the Jiegu battlefield performance at Shanghaiguan Great Wall, enjoying the Great Wall fireworks parties in eastern Hebei ethnic customs performances at the grand evening show of Great Wall cultural and artistic exhibitions, and 10000 people climbing the Great Wall contest.

World No. 1 City Mid-Autumn Festival Moon Appreciation Party (September 11-13)

With the themes of “reunion, peace, fervor and happiness,” the party aims to present the autumn pageant with rich contents and unique features to the tourists from home and abroad.

Activity contents: outer city square guest greeting ceremony, large-scale garden tour and sightseeing, Qianmen business street folk performance, Yuan-Ming Yuan Imperial Garden Dashuifa Chinese and foreigners singing and dancing recreation, Yongdingmen gate tower moon appreciation, traditional moon-cake exhibition, sales and tasting, Mid-Autumn Festival moon appreciation poem composition, painting and calligraphy contest, large-scale Mid-Autumn Festival performance, and large-scale fireworks party.

China Shexian County Nv Wa Cultural Festival (Sept. 25-Oct. 10)

Nv Wa is one of the first ancestors of Chinese populace. The Wahuang Palace is located on the bank of Qingzhang River and on the cliff of Zhonghuang Mountain in Shexian county was built in Northern Qi Dynasty over 1450 years ago, and is China’s largest and earliest ancient architectural complex that worships Nv Wa. It’s known as “alive building and hanging temple,” and has been recognized as a Key Cultural Relics under the Protection of the State. To promote the spirit of Nv Wa and the development of the local economy, the Shexian County Committee of the CPC and County Government have decided to hold China Shexian County Nv Wa Cultural Festival annually from September 25 to October 10.

China Yongnian Tai Chi Quan International Congregation (October 16-19)

Tai Chi Quan is a crystallization of the wisdom of the Chinese populace, and is a treasure of human civilization. Held annually in Handan from October 16 to 19, the China Yongnian Tai Chi Quan International Congregation aims to promote Taichi progenitor culture, witness the grand occasion of Tai Chi contest, and enhance the connection and communication between the Chinese and foreign Tai Chi enthusiasts. The main activities are: a large-scale opening ceremony, Tai Chi Quan group performance, Chinese and foreign Tai Chi Masters and hand-pushing Masters contest and prize-awarding ceremony, Tai Chi master lectures, seeking to become an apprentice to a master and learn skills, visit of the former residences of Yang Luchan and Wu Yuxiang, the progenitors of Wu style Tai Chi Quan, and the worshiping of other progenitors.
