The award ceremony of the 2018 China International Folk Crafts and Cultural Products Expo was held in Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou province, on Nov 23. The Confucius Academy of Guiyang was named one of the "Top?10 Brands" of Guizhou Cultural Industry in 2018.
Built in September 2012, the Confucius Academy of Guiyang is an institute engaged in promoting traditional Chinese culture. Occupying an area of 400 mu (26.67 hectares), its building area surpasses 150,000 square meters.
"The design of the academy is based on Confucius temples. However, it is more often used for cultural communication and learning than sacrificing," said Liu Zhaofeng, designer of the Confucius Academy of Guiyang.
The academy has carried out a series of explorations to spread Chinese traditional culture and promote socialist core values since its foundation. At present, experts from both home and abroad have so far given more than 600 lectures on traditional culture, and the lectures have been enjoyed by more than 300,000 people.
Ceremonies are also held there to celebrate traditional festivals, such as Spring Festival and Dragon Boat Festival, along with the 24 solar terms. The Four Ceremonies, including the First Writing Ceremony, the Coming-of-age Ceremony, the Respecting Elderly Ceremony and the Traditional Wedding Ceremony, have become a traditional etiquette culture brand with great influence.
Its Chinese culture study park is set up for scholars from colleges and universities. A total of 24 international universities and academic organizations have thrown themselves into the study of traditional culture there.
In recent years, the academy has also held a series of activities base on Yangming culture, which is rich in Guiyang features.
