Yuanyang Cave Scenic Zone

It is located to the east of the county seat of Fengshan County. Lying on the Phoenix Mountain, midway of the mountain's summit, its elevation is more than 700 meters. It is a two-story cave with a high elevation in the southern edge of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. In the cave, there is a dazzling array of beautiful stone columns, stalagmites, and stone curtains, all of which are pleasantly shaped. The entrance is 7.5 meters high and 12 meters wide. The length of the cave is 480 meters and the widest part is 320 meters. While entering the cave via the entrance, tourists find themselves in the first story of the cave. The journey meanders for 1,200 meters. There are lofty and steep stalactites and strange stones that are in unique and exquisite shapes. The tallest stalagmite is 36.4 meters, which is the third tallest stalagmite in the world. Fifteen stalagmites are more than 20 meters tall and numerous stalagmites are about 6 meters tall. The biggest stone curtain in the cave is about 15 meters high and 6 meters wide. The whole curtain is spotlessly white, closely resembling a falling waterfall which had instantly been frozen into icicles and remained in this beautiful cave.?

Located at the foot of Phoenix Mountain, the Yuanyang Lake resembles the Chinese Mandarin Cave at a distance. The two form the Yuanyang Scenic Zone. In 1945, the 3-character Chinese phrase “Yuan Yang Hu” became one of the entries in Ci Hai, an authoritative Chinese dictionary published by the Chung Hwa Book Co.
