Baimo Cave Scenic Zone in Bama Yao county

This imposing limestone karst cave is in Bama Yao autonomous county, and is a unique geological structure. It actually contains two caves with a space between them dotted with sinkholes, and caves within caves and caves above caves. The total trip is about 5,000 meters and has been called by Chinese, British and American scientists as the “No.1 Cave in the World”. It is also a national AAAA scenic zone, with hundreds of sculpture-like formations, such as the Fat Smiling Buddha and Roaring Lion and groups of tall stone columns that are like great trees.

The biggest stalagmite, 39 meters tall, is perhaps the world’s tallest, and takes more than 10 people to reach around it with their arms stretched out. Mists circulate in the cave, giving it a mysterious atmosphere and the temperature is mild, with summer being like autumn and winter like spring. The Scenic Zone attracts nearly 100,000 people for leisure activities and to keep fit every year.

The county considers the conservation and development of its resources important and has made an effort to develop the Cave Tourist Resort. It also asked the Shenzhen Huayu Investment and Development Group to help develop an ecological health-preservation project in the cave area, with three parts: the first for a hotel, top club and central square; the second for holiday-making and health preservation; and the third for home-making and health-preservation, at a cost of 3 billion yuan.
