Gansu launches Agriculture Products Import-export Chamber

Authorities in Gansu officially launched the Agriculture Products Import-export Chamber in the provincial capital of Lanzhou on Nov 26.

The chamber’s main function will be to facilitate the expansion of Gansu’s agricultural products into foreign markets to provide extra income for impoverished farmers.

As one of China’s main agricultural areas, Gansu is home to more than 3,700 enterprises with import and export certification. According to official statistics, the value of agricultural products exported from Gansu between January and October of this year exceeded 2 billion yuan ($290 million). More than 120 species of Gansu-produced agricultural products have been sold to over 100 countries and regions.

To reduce the financial burdens of small and medium-sized agricultural businesses, the chamber signed an agreement with the Gansu arm of the Bank of Communications to widen avenues of financial support.
