Baiyin's cultural industry development enters the fast lane

Jingyuan in Baiyin city, West China's Gansu province, is a county with a long history and culture.

Jingyuan's uniqueness in culture reflects its integration of Yellow River culture,silk culture, agrarian culture and folk culture. As many as 170 historical sites make Jingyuan a place with rich tourism resources. Its grottoes are especially similar to the renowned Longmen Grottoes.

The Jingyuan county government has made efforts to develop the local cultural and tourism industry. In 2014, the government raised 1.4 million yuan ($220,000) for the construction of a cultural industrial base and 2 million yuan for a special fund to support the local cultural and tourism industry.

The local government has also worked innovatively to combine culture and tourism, organizing a successful folk festival and the popular happy village tour, through which tourists could experience life in the county.

At the same time, investment in culture and tourism has brought Jingyuan opportunities. Jingyuan is the location of the 2014 Cross-Country Championship. With the influence of this championship, a 52-million yuan agreement was signed to build a car racing park. Meanwhile, a 260 million yuan investment has been made for the construction of Jingyuan ancient town, and a private investment of 45 million yuan has been made for the construction of the Eco-Industrial Park. To date, the added value of the cultural industry in Jingyuan has reached up to 620 million yuan with a growth rate of 48.4 percent year-on-year.
