Starting from Fuzhou, the torch relay of the fifth National Special Olympic Games is to carry on within the border of Fujian province. Later the torch relay will pass to other cities in China.

This event aims to publicize the spirit of Special Olympic Games and stimulate the awareness to help the handicapped. At the same time, it is also a platform for Fuzhou to stage a show of the city and to make it known across China and even the world.

The torch will be passed from Fuzhou to Ningde, travelling 9 cities in Fujian province. The torch bearers are selected from all walks of life having diverse background, including officials, volunteers, professors and teachers, and police officers.
