Fortunately, in 2006 the Wanshouyan site was listed by the government as one of the nation’s 100 most important archeological areas and is, as such, well-protected and funded.

The site has received in excess of 100 million yuan ($14.56 million) and Wanshouyan built an onsite museum dedicated to exhibiting some of the caves’ finds and acting as an educational resource for visitors. Furthermore, in 2014 local authorities launched Wanshouyan Site Park project to further scientific research, education, and tourism opportunities. The project is still undergoing development and is expected to open to the general public in 2018.
