The Maritime Silk Road International Arts Festival is being held from November 25 to December 5 in Quanzhou city, Fujian Province.

According to the organizing committee, delegations and art troupes from nearly 20 countries, including Japan, South Korea, Germany, Denmark and Morocco will show up at the festival.

At the opening ceremony on November 26, art troupes from Gwangju in South Korea and Yokohama in Japan put on excellent performances. Quzhou, together with Gwangju and Yokohama have been honored as “Cultural Cities of East Asia”.

A variety of activities will simultaneously be held during the 10-day event, such as an Arabic intangible cultural heritage exhibition, and the first Maritime Silk Road International Brands Trade Fair.

Moreover, Artists from many countries, such as Britain, Italy, and Malaysia, will visit different parts in Quanzhou to give an international music feast to the masses.

As the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368 AD), Quanzhou is an important harbor and famous historical and cultural city in China. The trading of goods such as silk, china, tea, spices, flowers and grass helped to develop a prosperous marine economy.
