Gao Shiji, Director-General of the Institute for Resources and Environment Policies (IREP), Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), met with Jon Elkind, Assistant Secretary for the Office of International Affairs of the United States Department of Energy, on Jan 26.

They exchanged views on energy and environmental policies, issues raised at the Paris Climate Conference and China’s role in climate change. They had an elaborate discussion on the particularity and practical efforts of both sides in energy innovation.

Some officials and research fellows from the DRC were also present.
