The Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC) is one of the most reputed official think tanks in China. Established in 1981, it has more than a dozen research institutes with research focus on national economy, social development and strategic issues in reform and opening-up. In April last year, President Xi Jinping proposed building new think tanks with Chinese characteristics, showing that China's think tanks will embrace a bright future and play even more important role.
