The construction of Xi'an Daming Palace National Heritage Site Park will be completed and open to the public on October 1, 2010.

Daming Palace is in Xi'an. Daming Palace illustrates the economic and cultural prosperity as well as architectural excellence of the Tang Dynasty.

According to Liu Lei, deputy director of Planning and Promotion Office of Xi'an Daming Palace Great Heritage Site Preservation Demonstration Site Project, the project started during the "11th Five-Year" period in 2007. At present, the main part of the project has been completed and roads in the palace are under construction. Approximately 7,000 trees have also been planted.

Mr. Liu explained that the project is a very important part of the "Silk Roads series", a joint application for World Culture Heritage status.

The design and construction of the park puts heritage preservation as the priority. Thus, the project reduced building work, and made permanent construction forbidden so as to prevent damage to underground relics. The park’s design fully reflects the organizational structure of ancient Daming Palace, including size, structure and organization.Tthrough a large-scale underground museum and other interactive areas, visitors will get a better understanding of the glorious culture of Tang Dynasty.

The park is situated one mile north of the Ming Dynasty city wall of Xi’an. The total area of the park covers 3.7 square kilometers.
