In recent years, the academic research and communication of intellectual property in China are becoming increasingly active, and quantity & quality of IP studies have been upgraded significantly. In order to have a comprehensive understanding of IP studies and researches in China, and to promote the IP academic communication and prosperity, Shanghai Intellectual Property Academy (SHIPA), after publishing the Report on Publication of Professional IP Articles in China of 2011, continued the survey on professional IP journals in 2012 in China, collected and analyzed the statistics of professional IP articles which were published in 2012, and formed this Report for reference of related departments.
I. Source of the statistics
The statistics of this report come from professional IP journals, comprising ten publications: Intellectual Property; Electronics Intellectual Property; China Copyright; China IP; Science; Technology and Law; China Invention & Patent; Patent Lawyer; China Patents & Trademarks; China Trademark and People’s Judicature.
II. Notes on the Statistics
1. Articles (including the English articles) in this Report are all IP professional ones, such as academic papers, professional reviews, case analyses and other IP related articles. 2. This Report only focuses on first authors and their work units, and work units such as “the IP School of Shanghai University” should be deemed as “Shanghai University.” 3. News reports and interviews published in journals and articles with no specific work units are excluded from this Report. 4. This Report takes provinces, municipalities directly under the central government and autonomous regions as statistic units. 5. This Report divides all units into four categories which are the judicial system, governmental departments, scientific research institutions and social organizations. Among them, the judicial system contains courts, procuratorates, jails and public security bureaus; governmental departments mean all state administrative departments except public security bureaus; scientific research institutions refer to colleges and universities, research institutions and others; and social organizations include common enterprises, IP agencies, law firms, etc.
