There was a seminar on Zhongguancun companies listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, on Mar 7, in Beijing, hosted by the Zhongguancun administration, Beijing Securities Regulatory Commission, and the HK Stock Exchange, with Guo Hong, administrative head of Zhongguancun, introducing the area's companies and cooperation with the stock exchange.

Also addressing the gathering were Wang Jianping, head of the Beijing Securities Regulatory Commission, and Xu Chunmeng, chief representative of the stock exchange's Beijing branch and various experts discussing how to help companies finance their move to go public.

Beijing's Zhongguancun was China's first high-tech, innovative demonstration zone and now has 224 companies listed in China and abroad. It also has the most listed companies across the country and provides venture capital for start-ups.

The HK stock exchange is one of the world's biggest and the first choices for many mainland companies wanting to go public. So far, 24 Zhongguancun companies have listed there, including Lenovo, Digital China, Founder Holdings, and Kingsoft.

Zhongguancun and the HK exchange had already signed a memorandum of cooperation as early as October 2011 to increase information sharing about companies, policies and the capital market to help Zhongguancun companies get listed. By the end of 2012, the Beijing Securities Regulatory Commission had come up with more flexible policies for Chinese companies wanting to go public overseas, and more opportunities for those that qualified. Zhongguncun will increase communications with the HK exchange to help enterprises develop by using the international capital market.
