The New Emerald Village stands beneath the south face of Huangshan in Anhui province. The village is surrounded by green trees, beautiful streams and magnificent mountains. Admirers say the village looks like it came out of a painting.

The Emerald Valley is located at the foot of Huangshan. In early 1980s, the people who lived here were rather poor. The average annual per capita income was less than 300 yuan. Since the policy of reform and opening-up was implemented at the village, villagers have become increasingly rich from the development of tourism.
