The Anhui Greening Administration Committee has recently announced a list of the first batch of provincial Forest cities, towns and villages. Feixi county,Dawei village, and Shangpai village in Hefei are on the list, Anhui Daily reported.

Nine - including Huangshan district, Ningguo city, Yingshang county, Qimen county, Tongcheng city, Yuexi county, Qingyang county, Huoshan county and Feixi county – gained the title of "Anhui Provincial Forest City ". 113 towns were awarded the title of "Anhui Provincial Forest Town"; and 954 administrative villages (communities) were named "Anhui Provincial Forest Village".

Among the forest town winners, nine towns are from Hefei - Dawei town and Yicheng community from the Baohe district, Shangpai town and Taohua town from Feixi country, Gangji town and Shuangdun town from Changfeng county, Tangchi town and Sanshigang town from Luyang district, and Nangang town from Shushan district. Among the forest village winners, 96 are from Hefei including Sangang village in Shangpai town, Xiao jingzhuang village in Shannan town, Songgang village in Changfeng county, Baihua village in Lujiang county, Dongqu village in Luyang district and more.

Establishing forest cities, towns and villages is an important step in Anhui's forest growth project. According to the plan, by 2016 Anhui aims to set up 20 provincial forest cities, 300 provincial forest towns and a group of provincial forest villages. The speaker from Anhui Forestry Bureau confirmed that the first batch members have all met or exceeded the provincial standards in forest coverage, and varieties of trees.
