Gong Jinjie, Jilin's first cycling medalist at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, attended the 19th CPC National Congress as one of the Jilin delegates.

"When I was an athlete, I trained to earn glory for my country; now I'm a delegate and I will contribute to the improvement of China's sports achievement," Gong said.

She suggested better physical fitness contributes to a better life.

Ensuring a better quality of life through improving national health care policies and offering people regular health service was mentioned in the report delivered at the opening session of the Congress.

Gong said she will promote sports activities among Jilin people to improve their health.

She also hopes that people will simply enjoy sports in addition to gaining a health benefit from taking part in them.
