Mariam Yeung visited earthquake-hit Yao'an county in Yunnan province?and shared her three-day experience at a news conference on July 20, 2009, according to Xinhua News Agency.
"We brought them daily necessities and books for their upcoming semester," the singer and actress said. "When the earthquake occured,?children were playing on the playground and?adults were working in the field. Luckily, they escaped the disaster which toppled lots of houses."
Yeung is one of the?ambassadors of the Hongkong commission of UNICEF (United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund).
