Sun Moon Lake used to be two independent lakes but they integrated as a result of the construction of a large hydropower plant. There is an isle in the middle of the lake, dividing the lake into two parts, the northern part resembling a sun and the southern part resembling a half moon, thus the name Sun Moon Lake. |
