By Xu Jingxi in Guangzhou | China Daily | Updated: 2013-11-08 08:14

The 2013 China International Green Innovative Products and Technologies Show opens on Nov 8 in Guangzhou.

More than 400 enterprises from more than 10 countries are participating in the four-day show in the capital of Guangdong province to showcase their new green products and technologies and seek international cooperation in green economy.

Launched in 2011, it is the country's most influential international exhibition of green industries.

The show is aimed at furthering the goals of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, which identified green development as a national priority.

The show focuses on promoting trade in green products and boosting investments in energy-efficient and environmentally friendly industries this year.

The exhibition area of the show has grown to 50,000 sq m this year, and there has been a comparable increase in the number of overseas visitors.

Entrepreneurs and 200 government officials in charge of environmental protection and green economy from more than 40 countries and regions in Asia, Oceania, Africa and Latin America are expected to visit the show and participate in the conferences and forums.

These countries and regions are vigorously promoting the development of environmental protection industry with a large demand of green products.

They will be important markets for Chinese exporters of low-carbon products and energy-saving services.

Ma Xiuhong, director of the show's organizing committee, said at a media briefing that the show will bridge green technologies, products and services and the market demands from China as well as abroad.

According to a statement from the committee, the show has attracted hotels and shopping malls that require renovations to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions.

Buyers of green products will join the show in search of suppliers. Among them are major international retailers like Wal-Mart and Ikea as well as Yihaodian, a leading online supermarket in China.

There will also be a trade show of green products and technologies from Israel.

To help enterprises better understand the latest national policies on green industries, the committee has scheduled seminars concerning hot topics including governmental green procurement, upgrading of photovoltaic industry, new energy automobiles, green investment, eco-industry parks, drainage and flooding prevention, energy-efficient services, and emissions-reduction in the circulation domain.

Opening on the same day as the China-Pacific Island Countries Economic Development and Cooperation Forum, the show is an opportunity for Chinese enterprises to tap into the markets in Pacific island countries.

The show has a display area exclusively for the participants from these countries and holds business talks to incubate projects between China and Pacific island countries in finance, tourism, agriculture and fishery.

The show is jointly hosted by the China Foreign Trade Center, the China Enterprise Confederation and eight other organizations, including the two new organizers this year - United Nations Global Compact and the China Business Council for Sustainable Development.

It receives support from 11 ministries and commissions directly under the State Council and from 11 provincial and municipal governments.

The show has taken on an online campaign to generate international publicity and extend its global influence. People can visit the official website of the show from that of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the United Nations Global Compact.
