Soccer ace David Beckham has jetted back to Britain from the U.S. to be by the side of his father who has suffered a heart attack.

The LA Galaxy star, 32, flew from Los Angeles on Wednesday night to join his father Ted, 59 at an East London hospital.

Ted is seriously ill and fighting for his life. The gas fitter was taken to Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone on Wednesday and later transferred to the London Chest Hospital in Bethnal Green, where he is now said to be in a stable condition.

David Beckham's spokesman said: "His father has had a heart attack and is currently being treated in hospital.

"David is flying back to be with him.

"Victoria is in Japan working but obviously she has been informed of it and she is concerned."
