Maybe because many Chinese are tired of Hollywood special effects, or maybe because they despise those domestic films that are always about searching for fame or money, whatever the reason, French movies are popular in China.
Why are French movies so popular? Because the scenes look like beautiful paintings, the characters are delicately drawn and the plots stress every detail. Every part of the movie is filled with romance, French-style.
Compared to Hollywood movies, French films particularly emphasize character development. If Hollywood films are 'story' films, then French films are 'human' or 'life' films. These films just show some simple life stories and depict ordinary people.
So, if you are bored with Hollywood blockbusters, why not try a classic French movie?
