Grizzlies defeat Lakers 100-99 in overtime

Despite the winning streak, the Blazers remain hampered by injuries. Forward
Darius Miles is out after having surgery to repair damaged cartilage in his
right knee. Point guard Sebastian Telfair, who has missed six straight games
with a sprained thumb ligament, is day-to-day.
Cheeks went 162-139 in nearly four seasons with the Trail Blazers, who had a
streak of 22 straight playoff appearances snapped after they went 41-41 in
2003-04. After he was fired on March 2, he was replaced in the interim by Kevin
Pritchard, the team's director of player personnel.
The Blazers hired McMillan in the offseason.
Fisher's layup lifts Warriors over Celtics
OAKLAND, Calif. - Both Ike Diogu and Adonal Foyle did their parts to get
Golden State back in the win column.
Diogu had a solid outing in his first career start in place of Foyle, who put
his frustrations aside and provided the Warriors with a big boost off the bench.
Derek Fisher took a pass from Baron Davis and drove through the paint for a
left-handed layup with 6.2 seconds left, and the Warriors snapped a season-worst
five-game losing streak with a 111-109 victory over the Boston Celtics on
Wednesday night.
"We needed a win," Foyle said. "Each of us wanted to be at our best tonight
in order to get a win."
After Fisher's go-ahead basket, Paul Pierce dribbled the ball off his leg on
the Celtics' final possession and Davis came up with the ball.
Jason Richardson scored six of his 36 points in the final 4:12, including an
18-foot fadeaway jumper with 1:34 to go. Richardson and teammate Troy Murphy
gave Boston a big chance when they fought over a rebound and lost possession to
the Celtics, who called timeout with 37 seconds to play.
But Mark Blount, who had 21 points and eight assists, missed a 16-footer from
the top 5 seconds later to give the Warriors another opportunity. Ricky Davis
had tied the game at 107 with two free throws at 1:55.
Pierce had 28 points and 12 rebounds and Delonte West tied his career high
with 19 points for the sloppy Celtics, who committed 23 turnovers.
Boston coach Doc Rivers wanted a timeout in the waning moments but nobody
called it.
"Even if we got it up court, we wouldn't have gotten a good shot off," Rivers
said. "It's a tough loss. The game felt like the last team who had the ball was
going to score. Nobody was playing defense on either team."
Baron Davis had 11 points, 12 assists, five steals and four rebounds. Troy
Murphy added 17 points.
The Warriors (15-14), in jeopardy of falling below .500 for the first time
all season, also ended a four-game home losing streak, their longest at Oakland
Arena since a six-game skid from March 1-24, 2002. They had been allowing more
than 110 points per game during the slide.
Golden State used a 7-0 fourth-quarter run for a 97-89 lead, making four
straight free throws during the stretch, but Boston fought back.
