250,000 more World Cup tickets go on sale

Updated: 2005-12-13 09:29 FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) _ Another 250,000 tickets
for the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany went on sale Monday and 30,000 orders
came in within an hour, organizers said.
The third batch of tickets went on sale after Friday's draw that determined
the eight groups for the 32-nation tournament from June 9 to July 9.
It was the first time fans could order tickets knowing the schedule of
soccer's showcase event.
The deadline for the latest orders is January 15. The lottery to determine
who gets the tickets will be held January 31.
Organizers said there were tickets available for 63 games - all but the
opening game in Munich between host Germany and Costa Rica.
Organizing committee spokesman Jens Grittner said 90 percent of tickets
requests by Monday afternoon came form Europe, the majority outside Germany.
More tickets will be offered between February 15-April 15, and last-minute
tickets will go on sale May 1.
Tickets are only available on www.FIFAworldcup.com.
