Students involved in one-night-stand to be expelled

Chungqing Normal University is going to implement a new rule that terminates students involved in unethical relationship including one-night-stand, "Er Nai and Er Ye"(mistress and fancy man). Heated discussion were aroused all over China after the Chongqing Evening News reported the new school regulation yesterday.

"Actually, we would like people to discuss this issue too…" said Bian, who claimed to be a teacher from the Department of student affairs of Chungqing Normal University calling the Chongqing Evening News yesterday.

He said the university welcomed any opinions from students but no objections had been received until yesterday.

Chung, also teacher from the university, said implementation of this new rule did not imply the phenomenon was common among students.

Instead, this was based on the current social trend to specially regulating those who "harm the image of college students and social moral."

The definition of "one-night stand," "Er Nai and Er Ye (Chinese for mistress and fancy man)" will be based on the Public Security Bureau. These applied to both male and female students.

An unnamed teacher from the university said the university was going to hold a press conference to explain the new regulation since this had raised too much attention after the media coverage.

On the other hand, the "Regulation for the Management of Normal High School Students" from the Education Department will cancel any rules restricting students' freedom of love starting from September 1, 2005.

Some teachers and parents were worried that students might be less cautious of their sexual behavior if schools did not have clear-cut constraints.

The respondent of Municipal Commission of Education said high schools were thinking of suitable rules in response to the "Regulation for the Management of Normal High School Students" but refused to comment on whether schools will regulate students' sexual behavior.
