China looks forward to more cooperation with experts worldwide in exploiting its mineral resources and improving mining production safety, said a senior Chinese official at an international conference Tuesday in Fuxin City of Northeast China's Liaoning Province.

Liang Jiakun, vice-director of State Administration of Production Safety, made the remarks on the International Society for Mine Surveying (ISM) XII International Congress.

While addressing the Congress being attended by over 300 specialists and experts from some 20 countries, Liang pledged that China would further its cooperation with ISM worldwide.

As one of the world largest mineral producers, China has made marked progress in exploitation and surveying technologies in recent decades but still lagged behind developed nations in manufacturing mining facilities and developing related software.

Liaoning's vice-governor Lu Xin, also Chairman of the Congress's Organizing Committee, said China is hosting the Congress and other similar events to improve China's mine surveying and help to solve related problems.

Prof. Yu Changxing, chairman of the current seven-day Congress session, said reasonably exploiting mineral resources, balancing between exploitation and environmental protection, and ensure safety production in mines are critical challenges the whole human society is facing.

ISM experts and technical specialists have produced many key breakthroughs and achievements in the above regards and would like to share their understanding with Chinese peers, said Yu.

ISM is affiliated to UNESCO and it is the first time the Congress holds a session in Asia and China since its founding in 1969.
