China wrap up Four-Nation tournament with win over Romania
          ( 2004-02-02 08:52) (Xinhua)

Hosts China breezed the Four-Nation soccer tournament as their Under-23 squad overcame Romania 2-0 in the last round of competition here on Sunday.

Midfielder Cao Yang volleyed to open the score for China six minutes into the game in the chilly drizzle before captain Du Wei tapped the ball home in the 82nd minute to settle the victory.

Chinese head coach Shen Xiangfu was unsatisfied despite the win.

"My players failed to produce dangerous attacks in the match, during which they lost concentration," said Shen, 47. "I have to say that they were not so good as in the last two matches."

The Chinese players were kept in their own field in the second half most of the time and Romania narrowly missed several shots.

"If Romania had better luck, they would have scored two or three goals," continued Shen.

"But on the other hand, we indeed learned a lot from the other teams and knew what we should improve on," Shen said.

Morocco also pulled off a 2-0 victory over the nine-man Russia in the earlier match through goals from Iajour and Janati's penalty.

Russian Pavil Bogrebniak and Rabeh of Morocco were sent off in the 29th minute after the two exchanged words following a tackle. The Russian side was reduced to nine on 42 minutes as Aleksandr Darntsev was expelled.
