The memorial site, mzd.chinaspirit.net.cn, was opened jointly by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth League andthe Central Archive Institute on Dec. 26, 2001.

The website runs a dozen literal, visual and audio columns, on topics like Mao's life, political works, and poems.

The visitors have left over 100,000 messages on the site. The operators have published a collection of the messages showing memories of and respect for Mao
