          Light on China series launched
          ( 2003-12-12 14:43) (CRI.com)

The Light on China Series include some fifty books written in English between the 1860s and the founding years of the People's Republic.

A book series called the Light on China has been launched in Beijing.

The Light on China Series include some fifty books written in English between the 1860s and the founding years of the People's Republic by journalists and other eyewitnesses of revolutionary events during that time.

Most of these books have long been out of print, but are now being brought back to life for the benefit of readers in China and abroad. They were republished by the China Society for People's Friendship Studies in cooperation with the Foreign Languages Press.

Old foreign friends of China, such as Israel Epstein and Marion Endicott, gave speeches at a reception. They praise the Light On China Series as a valuable opportunity for people to learn more about the history of China.
