Up to four million Russians aged from 11 to 24 take drugs, and at least 900,000 of them are addicts, the Russian Education Ministry said Tuesday.

The ministry said in a report to a State Duma (lower house of parliament) commission that some 6.5 million Russians take drugs and the number of addicts among them amounts to 2 million.

"The Russian drug market has an annual turnover of 5 billion US dollars, excluding drug trafficking revenues and returns on investments in the drug market," said the report.
