International auto fair set for November in south China
          ( 2003-10-09 17:31) (Xinhua)

South China's largest ever car fair, the 2003 China (Guangzhou) International Auto Fair, is to open on Nov. 25 in the capital of the southern province of Guangdong, the organizing committee announced on Thursday.

The fair will host invited domestic and foreign motor vehicle firms to show their corporate images, brands, technologies, marketing and sales strategies, and to launch new products.

Major domestic auto companies promised to attend, while Japanese firms had responded positively and Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi and Mazda had booked exhibition places, said a committee source. BMW and Audi had reserved 700 square meters, and Peugeot, Fiat and Chrysler are negotiating details of participation.

The venue is at the 700,000-square-meter Guangzhou International Convention Center, and the fair's exhibition space is over 60,000 square meters.

Guangdong is one of the most economically prosperous provinces in China, and auto sales in the Pearl River Delta account for one third of the nation's total.
