          TV show features healthy diet
          ( 2003-10-03 11:01) (China Daily)

Eating a healthy, well-balanced diet can help people feel better and live longer.

"About Taiwan,'' a programme on China Central Television (CCTV) will feature a new series entitled "Healthy Eating'' which will show how a good diet can leave people with more energy and vitality and share with the audience the healthy recipes of the island province.

The programme will be broadcast on CCTV's Channel 4 every afternoon starting October 1.

Through the programme, audiences can enjoy the beautiful scenery in Taiwan and above all, get to know how the local people lead healthy lives. As well, the programme will introduce some Taiwan-style dishes which will help people release stress and stay healthy.

The first stop of the programme will be Baihe Town of Tainan, which is known as a "land of lotus.''

Actually, lotus is not only pleasing to the eyes but also good for health. The dishes are made with lotus seeds and are particularly popular among locals and tourists.

Danan Town will be the second stop, which is known as a "heaven of flowers'' where chrysanthemums, peach flowers, lilies and lotus plants blossom all year round. Local people have created inspiring and delicious food with a dazzling variety of flowers.

Dishes like flower salad, cherry fish and flower pudding will be highlighted in the programme.

The weather is now cooling down and people are easy to catch a cold. The programme will also show audiences how to make herbal tea effective in stopping cough.
