          Li Tie sidelined from Newcastle
          ( 2003-09-13 09:55) (Agencies)

Everton's Chinese midfielder Li Tie will be sidelined for Saturday's home clash against Newcastle due to a foot injury, his club said on Thursday.

The 25-year-old has definitely been ruled out of the league match and faces another week on the treatment table, according to Everton's website.

"Li has a foot injury and won't start training again until next week," Everton manager David Moyes said.

"It is something that has been developing and he needs rest to sort it out," Moyes added.

Li, who moved to Everton on a three-year deal in August, has had a poor start in his second season in the English premier league.

He received his second yellow card in the season opener at Arsenal in August and missed Everton's Merseyside derby defeat against Liverpool due to suspension.

It was the first time for him to be suspended since being loaned to Everton last year.

The foot injury would be another blow for the Chinese star, who still has to work hard to keep himself among the regular line-up.

"My old injury on my right ankle recurred in training, and I have not trained for the last two days," Li said.

He added that he would not waste time in thinking about whether the injury might affect his future chances to be fielded.

"I would not think of the coming match, and my focus is to work with team doctors and try to recover as soon as possible," he said.
