Painting mountains

Pearl Lam Galleries' current exhibition, Spiritual as The Mountains, displays 25 oil paintings, ink paintings, sculptures and installations. The works, inspired by nature, show Chinese contemporary artists' continuing efforts to express their cultural values through various representations of mountains. Literati of ancient China long viewed mountains as an icon of masculinity and vitality.

Suspended reality gives him a lift

The New York Times calls it a "gravity-defying spectacle", and The Herald UK, "clever, witty and unexpectedly poignant". In fact, Leo is a funny and touching work that challenges the sense of reality through the surprising interplay of live performance and video projection. As one who can scale walls like Spiderman and meditate in mid-air like an Indian guru, Leo tests the limits of his new world and makes the delightful discovery that he is in fact superhuman. Directed by the Montreal actor and director Daniel Briere, Leo won several major awards at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
