Pressure mounts as van Gaal fails to rally his troops

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said the furious reaction of supporters to Saturday's 1-0 loss to Southampton was the worst he has experienced in an increasingly turbulent season.

United failed to score at Old Trafford for the seventh time this season and was eventually beaten on a late header by Southampton debutant Charlie Austin.
