African marathoners earning cash, recognition in foreign competitions
Every Monday at the crack of dawn, about 100 men and women brave the chill and meet on a high ridge in Iten, Kenya, about 370 kilometers northwest of Nairobi.
The harsh morning wind easily penetrates their training gear, but the adrenaline rush shields them as they prepare to run up to 42 kilometers.
