Tradition part of a city's life

Comment on Li Xing's column "Let tradition live under new skyline" (China Daily, Dec 25)

Much has been said about the collision between urbanization and preservation of tradition. We have witnessed times when centuries-old indigenous architecture are razed in favor of deluxe tower blocks, and local delicacies steadily lose ground to a chain of Western food stores.
