Building strong parties crucial for a shared future, official says

The world's political parties should pay attention to boosting their own structures if they hope to jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind and contribute to a more beautiful world, a senior Party official said.

Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Political Bureau, made the statement on Saturday when meeting with leaders of some of the political parties attending the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting in Beijing.

In a keynote speech delivered at the dialogue's opening ceremony on Friday, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, called on the parties in various countries to play a leading role in jointly building a community with a shared future for mankind and building a beautiful world.

At the Saturday discussion, foreign political leaders spoke highly of Xi's Friday speech, and said what especially resonated was Xi's call for joining hands in building such a community and a beautiful world.

Wang said the CPC, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi as its core, prioritized the building of the Party following the 18th CPC National Congress.

The Party has been pressing ahead with strict governance in a comprehensive manner, and has reinforced the authority and leadership of the CPC Central Committee, Wang said.

CPC members have strengthened their consciousness of ideology, of the bigger picture, of adhering to the leadership of the Central Committee with Xi as the core, and of keeping their actions and thoughts in line with the Central Committee. The Party has boosted confidence in the path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics, Wang said.

The Party works on comprehensively promoting its governing abilities and has achieved profound progress, Wang said. The CPC is willing to boost exchanges of experiences in this regard with its foreign counterparts, Wang added.

During the discussion, the foreign leaders said they are ready to follow Xi's advice and jointly play a leading political role.

Also on Saturday, top legislator Zhang Dejiang met with some of the leaders in attendance who have concurrent posts in their national legislative bodies.

The National People's Congress is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the parliaments of various countries and parliamentary organizations, and to make contributions to building a community with a shared future for mankind and creating a beautiful world, Zhang said.

The foreign leaders said they are ready for reinforced exchanges with the NPC and to boost consensus and make efforts toward shared goals.
