There were once more than 60 teahouses that hosted Cantonese opera performances in Guangzhou.

By the late 1990s, numbers had dwindled and now only this one remains in business, according to the Guangzhou Daily.

"When these senior performers retire, there may be nowhere to see Cantonese opera at a teahouse like this," a 24-year-old spectator at the teahouse said. "So I decided to have a look here before it is too late."
